St. Mary’s Polytechnic, Suleja & Veritas University, Abuja
Dates of stay: 15-20.10.2025
From the moment I arrived in Nigeria, I felt the pulse of a nation alive with learning and possibility. My eight hours of lectures at St. Mary’s Polytechnic in Suleja were not merely an academic exercise — they were a dialogue of curiosity and discovery. Together with the students and lecturers, we explored new perspectives and dreamed of future cooperation. My meeting with the Rector of St. Mary’s Polytechnic opened doors for further academic exchange and partnership under the Erasmus+ programme.
The visit included lectures, discussions on cooperation and interactions with students about Erasmus+ opportunities and Poland as a study destination.

In Abuja, I had the honour of visiting Veritas University, where I was warmly received by the Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Hyacinth E. Ichoku. Our discussion focused on future collaboration — joint programmes, student mobility, and research exchange — all grounded in a shared belief that education transcends borders. Later, I addressed the students of Veritas University, sharing with them stories about Erasmus opportunities and the beauty of Poland as a place to study and grow. Their enthusiasm, their questions, and their dreams reflected a deep desire to connect with the world — and reminded me why such exchanges matter.
Yet the true spirit of Erasmus is found not only in lecture halls, but in human encounters. My deepest gratitude goes to Rev. Fr. Somaila Bahago, PhD — my guide, host, and friend. His kindness and care turned every day into a journey of discovery. He introduced me to the professional world of Nigerian higher education, but also ensured that I felt at home — not as a visitor, but as a friend. His wisdom, warmth, and humour will remain with me as a lasting gift.
I would also like to extend heartfelt thanks to the Authorities and the Public Relations Chief of Veritas University, who treated me to a wonderful suya — the Nigerian barbecue whose flavour captures the essence of hospitality itself. Around that shared meal, we spoke not only of institutions and programmes, but of people, culture, and friendship — the real foundation of lasting cooperation.
One of the unforgettable landmarks was Zuma Rock — a natural monument near Abuja, symbolizing the strength and spirit of Nigeria.

Upon arrival, I received a most unique and heartfelt welcome — a live chicken, offered as a traditional gift of hospitality. This gesture, filled with warmth and humour, captured the essence of Nigerian generosity.

No journey is complete without tasting the local fruits — here, the vibrant papaya, a reminder of the sweetness of Nigerian hospitality and life.

This visit has laid the groundwork for future collaboration between Polish and Nigerian institutions. The conversations held in Nigeria have sparked mutual interest and respect, and I am confident they will grow into enduring academic partnerships under the Erasmus+ framework. Beyond agreements and memoranda, the most valuable takeaway is human connection — the smiles, the shared stories, the openness that transcends nationality. Education, after all, is not just the exchange of knowledge, but the exchange of hearts.
To everyone who welcomed me so warmly — the students, faculty, administrators, and especially Rev. Fr. Somaila Bahago, PhD, whose friendship made Nigeria feel like home — I offer my sincere appreciation. To Rev. Fr. Prof. Hyacinth E. Ichoku and the Public Relations team of Veritas University, thank you for your generosity and the unforgettable taste of suya shared in true Nigerian spirit. To the Rector and staff of St. Mary’s Polytechnic, Suleja, thank you for your openness, professionalism, and partnership. This Erasmus+ journey was more than an exchange — it was a bridge built from respect, curiosity, and friendship. May it lead to many paths of cooperation in the years ahead.
